Introduction. Ukraineiscurrently in the process of the development of the system of pharmacological supervision, which involves monitoring and receiving from the health service data on adverse reactions and unfavorable events that occur during medical use of drugs. According to the applicable laws and regulations that govern the implementation of pharmacological supervision in Ukraine there was approved the procedure for filing reports of undesirable effects of drugs, according to which data on drug safety should be provided not only by doctors, but also by pharmacists.
Earlier studies have shown that the development and implementation of the procedure of pharmacological supervision at the level of pharmacies in Ukraine remains uncompleted. In particular, it was stated that there is no procedure for the involvement of pharmacists in hospitals and health care institutions as well as employees of the pharmacy network to inform about the occurrence of adverse reactions and unfavorable events when using drugs that are not related to their inadequate quality[1,2].
The aim of the research is to study the attitude of pharmaceutical professionals to the participation in monitoring of the safety and efficacy of medicines at the pharmaceutical level
Materials and Methods:For the conduction of the survey of pharmacist there was developed a special questionnaire with the formalized data carriers. The study was conducted in October of 2016 among pharmacist of Zaporozhyedrugstores. At the beginning of the study the sample size were calculated in compliance with the terms of representativeness.Taking into consideration the percentage of response to the questionnaire and errors in their completing there were distributed 200 pieces and collected - 167 (83.5%). After checking for the correctness and consistency of their filling prior to the analysis were selected 153 questionnaires.
Results and discussion:Currently, it is believed that the main solution of the problem of prevention of complications in medical use of drugs is the production and release to the pharmaceutical market of new, more qualitative, effective and safe medicines. Another way, as WHO experts say,is the development of a system of implementation of better control over their safety. The latest is called pharmacological supervision.
The survey of the participants in the questionnaire on the implementation of pharmacological supervision at the level of the pharmaceutical institutions of Ukraine showed that the majority of pharmacy professionalsare positive aboutthe collection and provision of information on adverse reactions or undesirable events of drugs. Almost all respondents noted that in recent years, each of them repeatedly faced with the case of adverse action of drugs.
Most respondents that participated in the survey are employees of drugstores with the retail sale of drugs. It makes 89% ofthe total number of respondents.More than 9% of respondents work in hospital pharmacies, about 2% was represented by teachers of medical (pharmaceutical) educational institutions.
Among the major problems depicted by the respondents was the strengthening of methodological and informational work of the regional offices of pharmacological supervision. Urgently is requiredthe strengthening of the system of monitoring of drug safety(59%).57%of the respondents feel uncomfortable as they should be distracted from primary duties while filling in the card-reports of adverse reactions of drugs. About 17% had some difficulty sending the received data.
Regarding the support of the pharmaceutical staff activities that will contribute to the improvement of the implementation of pharmacological supervision in Ukraine, the most positive respondents are the following:- The formation of the informative field of drug safety (91%);- The development of training programs (87%);- Active involvement of consumers of drugs to the pharmacological supervision (47%);- The development and implementation of pre- and postgraduate training programs in higher medical (pharmaceutical) establishments on the security issues of medicines and of pharmacological supervision (53%);- The formation of an objective standpoint in mass media on the safety issues of drugs (61%);- The organization and ensuring the effectiveness of the process of collecting information on adverse reactions of medicinal products from their consumers (67%).
Conclusion.Overall, the domestic pharmaceutical professionals consider it necessary to actively use their capacity in the process of pharmacological supervision, particularly by providing information about possible side effects of medications and adherence to protocols of pharmacist in the case of undesirable effects of drugs. It should be noted that the further implementation of the system of pharmacological supervision at the level of pharmacies requires further investigation concerning the procedure for its implementation.
